Position Overview

The Plant Controller is responsible for leading the accounting, financial control, and manufacturing finance operations of the plant.

This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with local regulations, while acting as a strategic finance partner to the plant leadership team to drive operational efficiency and sustainable growth.

The position works closely with cross-functional teams including Production, Purchasing, and Logistics, ensuring effective cost management, inventory control, and financial governance across the factory operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Control & Compliance

• Establish and maintain a robust accounting control framework to ensure compliance with accounting standards and Vietnamese regulations.

• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including statutory, management, and internal reports.

• Oversee inventory accounting, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing costing processes.

• Identify and mitigate risks related to finance, taxation, cash flow, and regulatory compliance.

Budgeting & Cost Management

• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management processes.

• Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis and insights to support operational decisions.

• Optimize working capital and cost efficiency within the manufacturing environment.

Manufacturing Finance Partnership

• Act as a strategic finance partner to the Plant Manager, aligning financial objectives with operational goals.

• Work closely with Purchasing, Logistics, and Production teams to ensure:

• accurate costing

• inventory management

• operational efficiency.

• Provide financial insights for process improvements, investments, and operational initiatives.

Tax, Audit & External Stakeholders

• Serve as the main finance contact for external auditors, tax authorities, and consulting firms.

• Coordinate tax matters including VAT, Corporate Income Tax, and Transfer Pricing documentation.

• Support tax filings and ensure readiness for financial and tax audits.

Systems & Process Improvement

• Work closely with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) to ensure accurate financial data and reporting.

• Review and enhance accounting procedures and internal controls.

• Support financial setup for new operations or site expansion.

Team Leadership

• Lead and develop the finance and accounting team.

• Establish clear processes, policies, and training programs.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and continuous team capability development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.

• 10+ years of experience in roles such as:

• Chief Accountant

• Plant Controller

• Senior Finance Manager

Preferably within manufacturing or foreign-invested companies.

• Strong experience in:

• manufacturing finance

• inventory control

• costing methodologies

• operational finance.

• Experience working with external auditors and tax authorities.

• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Purchasing, Logistics).

• Fluent in English and Vietnamese (written and spoken).

Preferred skills

• Strong knowledge of Vietnamese accounting and tax regulations, including Corporate Income Tax and Transfer Pricing.

• Experience with SAP (FICO/MM modules).

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Advanced Excel and reporting skills.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
