Solid Wood Production Manager

Main responsibilities:

1. Production Operations

• Develop and execute monthly, weekly, and daily production plans.

• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules are achieved.

• Manage the complete solid wood manufacturing process, including:

• Log cutting

• Kiln drying

• Material preparation

• Woodworking

• Assembly

• Painting & finishing

• Packaging

• Monitor production performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to maintain efficient operations.

2. Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement

• Lead Lean Manufacturing implementation across the production department.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean tools, including:

• 6S

• Value Stream Mapping (VSM)

• Standardized Work

• Kanban

• SMED

• Poka-Yoke

• Kaizen

• Improve productivity, reduce manufacturing costs, shorten lead time, and optimize inventory levels.

• Foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.

3. Quality Management

• Establish and maintain quality control standards throughout the manufacturing process.

• Collaborate with the Quality team to conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement CAPA.

• Drive "Do It Right the First Time" initiatives to improve First Pass Yield (FPY) while reducing rework and scrap.

4. Cost Management

• Prepare and manage departmental budgets.

• Control production costs, including:

• Raw materials

• Labor

• Consumables

• Energy usage

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity improvement.

5. Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, develop, and evaluate production supervisors and frontline employees.

• Build competency through structured training and skill matrix development.

• Promote a high-performance, collaborative, and safe working environment.

6. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

• Ensure full compliance with HSE policies and local regulations.

• Promote a strong safety culture aiming for Zero Accidents.

• Oversee environmental protection systems, including dust collection and finishing facilities.

7. Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Maintenance, Warehouse, Engineering, and overseas teams.

• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) recommendations.

• Effectively communicate customer requirements, technical specifications, and quality expectations.

Requirements:

Education

Bachelor's degree or above in one of the following fields is preferred:

• Wood Science & Engineering

• Industrial Engineering

• Mechanical Engineering

• Manufacturing Engineering

• Business Administration

• Or other related disciplines

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of production management experience in the furniture manufacturing industry.

• At least 5 years managing the complete solid wood furniture manufacturing process.

• Strong experience leading medium-to-large production teams.

• Proven success in Lean Manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement projects.

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of solid wood characteristics and manufacturing technologies.

• Comprehensive understanding of:

• Log processing

• Kiln drying

• Machining

• Assembly

• Finishing

• Packaging

• Excellent production planning and operations management skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Data-driven decision-making mindset.

Language

• Fluent English (both written and spoken).

• Comfortable communicating with international stakeholders and participating in meetings, reporting, and technical discussions.
